We have been accumulating materials for the past few years for the Green Building Adventure. Generous families have donated hardwood flooring, windows, doors,
sinks, and lots of fabulous tools! Now we need a place to store these materials
while we continue preparations for Phase II, designing and building our new office (see
below for details).
If you have building materials you would be interested in donating for Phase I of the
Green Building Adventure, please contact us!
And remember, Educational Excursions is a non-profit organization so
your donation may be tax-deductible.
Here's what we need:

Phase II of the Green Building Adventure will be an intensive hands-on educational advenute. A select group of students will participate in this exciting green building project. Students will meet once a week for twelve weeks, and during that time, they will research various building techniques, alternative energy, materials, and more. They will then use their new knowledge to design the new office space!
Students will have cretive freedom when designing the new structure. However, they will have to include several components:
A variety of professionals will serve as mentors to the students throughout the designing and building process. Two contractors have agreed to serve as the primary advisors throughout the project, and additional guest speakers will assist. Included in the list of individuals who have expressed an interest in speaking with the students are an electrician, a plumber, and the Director of Planning and Development for Pickens County (who is responsible for permitting and building codes).
Students will be required to contribute a minimum of 40 hours to assist with the construction of the green building. And they will receive community service credit for the time spent helping!
Are you interested in participating in the Green Building Adventure?
If so, please e-mail us at info@eduexcursions.org to receive additional information.
We will also be looking for additional assistants to help with the construction process.
Let us know if you're interested!
Several businesses have already offered their assistance. A page will soon be added thanking them for their generosity. Help us and we'll add you to our list of supporters. Don't be left out!
